Hypnotherapy is used to help people to break free from destructive thought patterns that persist in spoiling their quality of life in some way. During hypnosis you are in a deeply relaxed state which enables you to be in contact with your sub-conscious mind, the source of emotional and behavioural problems, and to open the door to making the right changes for yourself.
Hypnosis itself is not a therapy; it is a method of delivering therapy. It is probably best described as being in a trance-like state, and everyone has the ability to enter into trance. We can all slip into a natural state of trance when we become absorbed in something, watching television, reading a book, using computers or even driving.
In hypnosis there is no question of being controlled or manipulated by someone else or even induced into a state of deep trance. A person in hypnosis is NOT asleep, they are often more aware of what is taking place than usual because their senses function more efficiently than normal. Nobody could possibly be made to do anything that they did not want to do while experiencing hypnosis.
Suggestion therapy is used for the simple problems such as giving up smoking, nail-biting, losing weight, lack of confidence, pre-exam nervousness and not being able to relax.
Analytical therapy is used to discover the causes of a psychological problem such as an emotional or behavioural problem. The aim of this therapy is to bring the client to a moment of surprising and liberating enlightenment where release will be obtained by finding the cause of the particular problem and overcoming its difficulties with our help.
